Clashes between two groups broke out in Nuh on Monday afternoon after a religious procession passing through the district came under attack, leaving two home guards dead and dozens of people injured in the frenzy of violence that followed.

The DGP said the situation in the state was under control and curfew has been relaxed for a brief period in Nuh. Gurugram is completely safe and there is no report of any violence, the DGP added.

Five people have been killed so far in the violence that erupted on Monday. Four people, including two home guards, died and many others injured in Nuh, where mobs tried to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession.

An official said about a dozen policemen were injured in the Nuh violence and eight of whom were admitted in hospital.
