Three of the cases in Ernakulam are persons who have arrived from the UK, two are those coming from the UAE and Ireland each, while returnees from Spain, Canada, Qatar, and the Netherlands are one each.

The man, who flew in from the UK, had reached Nedumbassery airport in Kochi on December 6, and on December 8, he had tested Covid-19 positive.

Kerala on Sunday reported its first case of COVID-19 Omicron variant. The new variant was detected in a man who flew in to Kochi from the United Kingdom, state Health Minister Veena George said.
