Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is currently the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the Narendra Modi government. He also holds the portfolios of Minister of Mines and Minister of Coal.
Joshi, who since his younger days has been a BJP activist, has played an important part in the growth of the party in the state of Karnataka. He has been a member of the Lok Sabha since 2004 and was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha in 2019 from the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency. He was also president of the BJP in Karnataka from 2014 to 2016.
In 1992, Joshi took upon himself the local leadership on 'Save Kashmir Movement', and again in the same year, he came into the spotlight with Rastradwaja Horata Samiti Sanchalak when they organised a movement to hoist the Tri-colour flag at Idagah Maidan (also known as Rani Kittur Chennamma Maidan) Hubli Karnataka during 1992-1994.
As a Member of Parliament, Joshi took up some causes like Hubli-Ankola Railway Line, Gadag-Bijapur Gauge Conversion (since completed), New Goodshed at Navalur (since completed), Modernisation of Hubli Railway Workshop, Upgradation of Hubli Railway Station, Crop Insurance Scheme, Development of Hubli-Dharwad City, to name a few.
Joshi, in his days before and after becoming an MP, has always identified himself to be a man-in-service-of-mankind. A member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since a young age, Joshi trained in various camps of the RSS.
Personal Life:
Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi was born in Vijayapur, Karnataka on November 27, 1962 to Venkatesh Joshi and Malatibai, the third among his siblings. He is married to Jyothi Joshi and he has three children with her.
Early Life:
As his father worked for the Railways, Joshi completed his primary education from a railway school and went on to graduate from Sri Kadasiddeshwar Arts College, Hubli.
