Ramadan is the holy month of Muslims that falls in the middle of the year. It is when Muslims observe fast for an entire month and pray to Allah. The festival falls in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Ramadan 2017 began on May 26-27 and will last for about a month until Saturday, June 24, after which Eid 2017 will be celebrated. This Eid is also known as Eid al-Fitr. Ramadan is considered auspicious because in Islam it is believed that the holy book of Quran or Koran was revealed during this month. It was in this holy month that Prophet Mohammed was enlightened and delivered his guidance through the Koran. Thus, Muslims try and read the Koran during Ramadan. Every Muslim observes a fast during Ramadan, also known as Ramazan. However, elders, children and the sick are exempt from fasting during Ramadan.
