Ravi Kishan

Ravindra Shyamnarayan Shukla or Ravi Kishan as he is known, is an Indian actor and politician who works in the Hindi and Bhojpuri film industry as well as in television. His first known screen appearance is in 1992 Hindi movie Pitambar alongside Mithun Chakraborty, Raza Murad and Kiran Kumar.

Ravi Kishan has starred in over 200 movies, and they include predominantly Hindi and Bhojpuri films along with Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati. He made his Tamil debut in 1999 with movie Monisha En Monalisa, and then his Telegu debut in 2014 in movie Race Gurram. He also starred in Marathi movie Madhyamvarg: The Middle Class in 2014, and then made his Kannada debut in 2017 movie Hebbuli. The same year, he made his Gujarati debut in movie Hameer.

He was last seen on-screen in 2019 Telegu movie Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, and his next are Radhe, Chhoo Mantar, Pandit Ji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi 3, Sabse Bada Champion, and Jai Chhathi Maa. The last is a Hindi movie, while the others are all Bhojpuri films.

TELEVISION:

Ravi has been working in television since 1997, starting with DD National's Jai Hanuman, and then in Metro Gold's Zindagi Milke Bitayenge (2000). In 2002 he starred in Sahara TV's Har Mod Par, DD Metro's Hello Inspector, and DD Metro's The Trap, and in 2004 in DD National's Hawayein. He was also a contestant and finalist on reality shows Bigg Boss 1 (2006) and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 (2012). Apart from that, he has hosted and also made guest appearances on a number of shows. He also acted in ZEE5's web series Rangbaaz in 2018.

POLITICS:

Ravi Kishan had joined the Indian National Congress (INC) from Jaunpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh, and contested in the 2014 general elections which he lost. He then joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in February 2017 and became their candidate from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency. He contested the 2019 general elections against Samajwadi Party candidate Rambhual Nishad and won.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Ravi Kishan was born on July 17, 1969 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Pt. Shyama Narayan Shukla and Jadavati Devi, and he is the youngest among his four siblings. He was brought up in a chawl in Santacruz, Mumbai and his family later moved to Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his B.Com from Rizvi College of Art, Science and Commerce in Mumbai, and he is married to Preeti Kishan, who he has four children with.
