Rohit Chadda, an investment banker turned entrepreneur, is currently the CEO for the digital business at Zee group (Zee Entertainment, Zee Media and DNA). He is also the co-founder of online food ordering platform foodpanda.com and the founder of omni-channel payments platform PayLo.
Where his education is concerned, Rohit did his computer engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (now Delhi Technology University), and upon completion worked as a software engineer for Computer Sciences Corporation. He then joined the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) in 2007 from where he completed his masters in management (PGDM). He then worked at Merrill Lynch as an investment banker in the United Kingdom before he took an internal transfer to India in 2011.
Rohit's entrepreneurial journey began in 2012 when he co-founded foodpanda.com, introducing online food delivery in emerging markets when the category was virtually non-existent. Foodpanda's reach extended to over 40 countries before it was bought by its global competitor Delivery Hero. After his first successful venture, Rohit Chadda launched multi-channel offline payments platform PayLo in 2015, and it was a huge success in the wake of demonetisation in India. PayLo expanded successfully pan-India before being acquired by Immortal Technologies.
MENTOR AND ANGEL INVESTOR:
Rohit is a mentor at Esselerator, a Startup accelerator by Subhash Chandra Foundation, and an angel investor in the online school aggregator platform SchoolForSure.com. As a mentor and angel investor, he works with multiple startups from concept to launch to growth.
AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS:
Rohit Chadda has received various awards through his professional career, and they include Professional Entrepreneur of the Year 2014, Young Food & Grocery Professional of the Year 2014, Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2016, and Exemplary Achievement in Corporate World 2020. He was named in the Fortune 40 under 40 most influential business leaders list of 2015, and also in 2015 list of Top 25 Most Talented Ecommerce Professionals in India. Before all the other awards, he had received 100 per cent merit scholarship under the Aditya Birla Award for Business Leadership for both the years (2007-08, 2008-09) he was doing his PGDM from IIM Calcutta.
