Ruby Rose Langenheim is an Australian model, actor, DJ and recording artist. She was born on March 20 1986. She is better known as Ruby Rose. She is the well known face of Maybelline New York in Australia and came became rather famous with her stint in the television as a recurring cast in the third and fourth season of Orange is the New Black. She was born as Katia Langenheim in Melbourne to single mother. She is the granddaughter of Alec Campbell, the last surviving Australian Battle of Gallipoli soldier. Lionel Rose, the famous Australian Boxer is her god father. Ruby Rose had a difficult childhood. Confused about her gender, she would constantly be depressed till she came out as a Lesbian at a young age of 12. It wasnt easy even then and she had to constantly face ridicule. For a lot many years she wanted to get a sex change operation but eventually decided against it. It was partly because of her sexual orientation that modellong appealed to her. She was introduced to androgyny with modeling and was happy to be gender neutral. She started her career and rose to fame when she participated in Girlfriend model search in 2002 where she came second. She then competed with about 2000 hopefuls to land the gig as an MTV VJ and moved to United States. She was an instant hit and became famous. In 2008 she made her screen debut with Australian comedy film Suite for Fleur. She was appreciated for her role and steady offers started coming her way. Next year she won the Astra Award for Favourite Female Personality and appeared in episode "Media Virgins" of Australia's Next Top Model, and then as a correspondent for the finale of the same. In July 2009 she co-hosted the Australian television news talk show 7pm. She however left the show in October of the same year. She was then signed on to host the Australian version of Ultimate School Musical. Rose also hosted the Foxtel Mardi Gras for 3 consecutive years before becoming an official correspondent for Foxtel for the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010. She was next seen in Around the Block film in 2013 alongside Christina Ricci and Jack Thompson. She became rather famous with her own production Break Free which was a short film released in 2014. The movie went viral and got millions of views. Ruby Rose credits her success largely to the success of the film. The year 2015 was a busy year for Ruby Rose. She appeared in the hit television series Orange is the New Black in the role of Stella Carlin, a new inmate. Her portrayal of a good looking and sarcastic inmate drew great praise from the critics. She was then renewed for another season of Orange is the New Black. Orange is the New Black is a famous comedy drama web series. The series released in 2013 on Netflix and soon became one of the most watched series on Netflix. Ruby Rose was seen in both the third and the fourth season of the series, the latter is currently streaming on Netflix. Ruby rose has signed up for the role of Abigail in the Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and for the action sequel John Wick: Chapter Two, alongside Keanu Reeves. Resident Evil would release in 2016 whereas the other movie is set for a 2017 release. She would also be seen in the much awaited sequel to the famous action series XXX The Return of Xander Cage. The movie would see Vin Diesel making a comeback in the famous action series. The movie is also drawing a lot of attention as it also stars famous Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. This movie is also to release in 2017. She has also hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards 2015. She has been in the news for her open attitude towards gender identity. Her openness about her sexual orientation has gained her a steady fan following within the LGBT community. She was also in media for her various relationships. She was noted to be in relationships with Jessica Origliasso, Australian supermodel Catherine McNeil and Phoebe Dahl - granddaughter of author Roald Dahl and cousin of model Sophie Dahl in that order. She is currently reported to be dating businesswoman Harley Gusman. Ruby Rose has also won many awards. She was awarded with the Astra Awards Female Personality of the Year in 2009, the GQ Australia Award as Woman of the Year in 2015 and Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the GLAAD Media Awards in 2016. She was also nominated for the International TV Actress for her role in Orange is the New Black and NEXT Breakthrough at the Glamour Awards. She continues to generate a steady interest with the audience and speak up about the various rights of people and sexual fluidity.
