Sidharth Malhotra (born on January 16, 1985) made his Bollywood debut with director Karan Johars film Student of the Year. Sidharth began his career as a model and walked the ramp in the fashion capitals of the world - Paris, Milan, New York. Sidharth also does modeling for an international designer, Roberto Cavalli. Sidharth was supposed to make his Bollywood debut in Madhur Bhandarkar directed Fashion, opposite Priyanka Chopra. However, due to contractual obligations with Gladrags,he couldn't take up the project. Before working in Karan Johars Student of the Year, Sidharth Malhotra worked as an assistant director to Karan Johar on the 2010 film My Name Is Khan. The actor had moved to Mumbai when he 21years old to shoot for the movie, which was to be directed by Anubhav Sinha, but it never released.Very early in his career, Sidharth Malhotra has showcased his versatility by playing a hardened criminal in the film Ek Villain and an aspiring author (Kapoor&Sons). In his debut film Student of the Year Sidharth Malhotra played a college student alongside Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. He further showcased his acting skills in movies like Hansee Toh Phasee, Brothers among others. He played the role of a criminal in the romantic thriller Ek Villain (2014) and an aspiring author in the family drama Kapoor & Sons (2016). His forthcoming films include Baar Baar Dekho opposite Katrina Kaif. Sidharth Malhotra will be seen playing a professor who travels into the future in the film Baar Baar Dekho directed by Nitya Mehra. The film stars Katrina Kaif as his love interest. In an interview he admitted that it has been emotionally the most difficult role to play. The actor has also signed an action-comedy film with Jacqueline Fernandez to be directed by director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. The actor may star in Aashiqui 3 opposite Alia Bhatt and in the remake of 1969 suspense film Ittefaq. He has won several awards which include the award for Most Promising Debut Male at Stardust awards and South Africa India Film and Television Awards. He has also won the award at Big Star Entertainment Awards for most entertaining actor in romantic film and entertainer of the year award. He has also got nominated for several awards. Sidharth Malhotras father, Sunil Malhotra was in the Merchant Navy and is presently working as a consultant. Sidharths mother, Rimma is a homemaker while the actors elder brother Harshad Malhotra works in the banking industry. Sidharth Malhotra completed his schooling at Delhi's Don Bosco School and Birla Vidya Niketan. The actor completed his graduation at Delhi Universitys Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. Sidharth Malhotra has been linked with actress Alia Bhatt who starred with him in their debut film Student of the Year. He supported his Kapoor and Sons co-star Fawad Khan, after Shiv Sena sought a ban on Pakistan artists performing in Maharashtra. The actor was also in news after he slammed actor-producer Kamal R Khan for posting an offensive tweet about his colleague Alia Bhatt for a beach advertisement in which they featured.Currenty, the actor is also in news for getting appointed as New Zealand's tourism ambassador to India. The actor met New Zealands Prime Minister John Key where he received an All Blacks' jersey (the country's national rugby team. The actor will also be filming all the adventure packed activities in New Zealand. As part of the campaign Sidharth Malhotra will make Indian tourists aware about driving safe on New Zealand roads. The actor as part of the campaign also visited Auckland University. Sidharth Malhotra is the face of several brands and products, such as Coca-Cola,Corneto, American Swan. He has been associated with brands like NIIT, Color Plus & Pantaloons. He has walked the ramps for designers like Manish Malhotra and Rohit BAL. The actor who is known to be a dog lover has collaborated with PETA for a campaign to create awareness about dogs. The ad was shot by photographer Pavitr Saith. Another interesting fact of Sidharth Malhotras is that his interests other than acting and modeling include playing rugby, doodling and sketching cartoons.
