Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha is an Indian actress and singer who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. She made her Bollywood debut in 2010 with movie Dabangg alongside Salman Khan and the movie won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Before joining the film industry she had worked as a costume designer.

In 2012, Sonakshi featured in four movies, namely, Rowdy Rathore, Joker, Son of Sardaar, and Dabangg 2, and she made a special appearance in the song Go Go Govinda from movie OMG – Oh My God!. She followed them with a special appearance in the song Thank God It's Friday from the 2013 film Himmatwala, and then in Lootera for which she was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She then starred in Once Upon ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara!, Bullett Raja, and R... Rajkumar, and a special appearance in songs Party All Night and Har Kisi Ko from the movie Boss.

2014 TO 2017:

In 2014, Sonakshi starred in three movies, namely, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, Action Jackson, and in Tamil movie Lingaa. The following year she starred in Tevar and made a special appearance in song Nachan Farrate from the movie All Is Well. In 2016 she featured in movies Akira and Force 2, and in 2017 she starred in Noor, in which she was also playback singer of the song Move Your Lakk, and in mystery-thriller Ittefaq.

2018 TO 2020:

Sonakshi started 2018 with the movie Welcome to New York, which was followed with Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, and then a special appearance in the song Rafta Rafta from movie Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se. The year 2019 was a busy year for Sonakshi, who started it off with a special appearance in song Mungda from the movie Total Dhamaal, and followed it with Kalank, Khandaani Shafakhana, Mission Mangal, and Laal Kaptaan. She will next be seen in Dabangg 3 (2019) and Bhuj: The Pride of India (2020).

Where television is concerned, Sonakshi was a judge on Indian Idol and Indian Idol Junior in 2015, and Nach Baliye and Om Shanti Om in 2017.


Sonakshi Sinha was born on June 2, 1987 in Patna, Bihar to film actors Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha (née Chandiramani), and she has two brothers who are twins. She studied at the Arya Vidya Mandir and later graduated in fashion designing from Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic of Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University.
