Swara Bhasker

Swara Bhasker is an Indian actress who works in the Hindi film industry, and who started her acting career in 2010 in movie Madholal Keep Walking, playing the character Sudha M. Dubey. She has won a number of awards and also been nominated for several.

Her first notable on-screen appearance was in 2010 in movie Guzaarish, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. Swara was then part of the cast of Hindi-English drama-thriller film The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project in 2010.

2011 TO 2019:

Swara has acted in a number of movies, namely, Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Chillar Party (2011), Listen... Amaya (2013), Aurangzeb (2013), Raanjhanaa (2013), reality film Sabki Bajegi Band (2013), Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai (2014), Tanu Weds Manu: Returns (2015), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), X: Past Is Present (2015), Nil Battey Sannata (2016), Anaarkali of Aarah (2017), and Veere Di Wedding (2018).

In 2019, she will star in movie titled Sheer Qorma, which is a same-sex love story that will feature her and Divya Dutta in lead roles, along with Shabana Azmi and Surekha Sikri among others.

TELEVISION:

Swara was in 2014 a presenter on the mini-series Samvidhaan, which is based on the making of the Constitution of India, and then a host on the television series Rangoli from 2015 to 2017. From 2016, she has been a part of the cast of web series It's Not That Simple.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Swara Bhasker was born on April 9, 1988 in New Delhi to naval officer Commodore Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar (Retd.) and Ira Bhaskar, a professor of cinema studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and has an elder brother. She completed her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi and went on to study at Miranda House. She received her Bachelor's degree in English Literature from University of Delhi, and did her Master's in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

AWARDS:

In 2012, Swara won Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Female at the Zee Cine Awards for her role in Tanu Weds Manu. Her next was in 2014 for Best Supporting Actress at the Screen Awards, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Female at the Zee Cine Awards for her role in Raanjhanaa. In 2016, she won Best Actress at the Silk Road International Film Festival, and Best Actress – Critics at the Screen Awards for her role in Nil Battey Sannata. in 2018, she won Confident Beauty of the Year at the Lux Golden Rose Awards for her role in Veere Di Wedding.
