Taapsee Pannu was born on 1 August, 1987, in New Delhi in a Jat Sikh family. She is an Indian model and actress who previously worked as a software engineer. Taapsee Pannu works in Bollywood and the South Indian film industry and has been a model. She made her debut in a Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam (2010). She is among the few actresses to have seven releases in a year. In the 2014 Edison Awards, she received the Most Enthusiastic Performer- Female Award for her performance in the 2013 Tamil film Arrambam. She made her debut in Bollywood in the movie Chashme Baddoor (2013). Born to Dilmohan Singh Pannu and Nirmaljeet Pannu, Taapsee is the elder daughter of the two daughters and has a younger sister named Shagun. Taapsee has a good educational qualification and she completed her schooling from Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Delhi and then graduated in computer science engineering from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi. Before entering into modeling, she also worked as a software engineer. She then became a full time model and then was selected in an audition for Channel V's talent show Get Gorgeous. After becoming a part of the show Get Gorgeous, she rose to fame and then started to appear in commercials for print as well as television. She then participated in many modeling competitions and also won titles like "Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face" and "Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin" during the 2008 Femina Miss India.

After a successful modeling career, Taapsee made her debut in movies in 2010 in the romantic musical movie Jhummandi Naadam. After her first release, Taapsee got many offers in the movie and she then appeared in seven movies in the year 2011. She made her debut in the Tamil cinema in the movie Aadukalam starring opposite Dhanush. The movie was critically acclaimed and won six National Film Awards at the 58th National Film Awards. Later in the same year she appeared in Vastadu Naa Raju opposite Vishnu Manchu. She entered Malayalam Cinema with the release of Doubles and appeared opposite Mammooty and Nadiya Moidu. Her fourth release of the year was Mr. Perfect where she played a short role. Later, she appeared in Veera opposite Ravi Teja and Kajal Aggarwal. The next release of the year includes Vandhaan Vendraan and Mogudu. She gained praise for her performance in Mogudu. Other movies of her include Gundello Godari, Arrambam, Daruvu and Shadow.

Taapsee made her debut in Bollywood as the lead in the remake of the 1981 movie Chashme Buddoor. The new movie was titled Chashme Baddoor and released on 5 April, 2013. In 2015, her second release of Bollywood was in Neeraj Pandey's Baby opposite Akshay Kumar. Her most recent releases include the movie Pink (2016), a critically acclaimed film starring Amitabh Bachchan. Pink touched upon the topic of sexual abuse, eve-teasing and consent. Appearing in many more southern movies over the years, her 2017 Bollywood films include Running Shaadi.com, The Ghazi Attack and Naam Shabana (prequel to Baby). In between, Taapsee Pannu also appeared in a music video opposite actor Saqib Saleem. She will now be seen in the movies Tadka and Judwaa 2.
