Tanushree Dutta is an Indian model and actress who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. She made her debut in 2005 in the movie Aashiq Banaya Aapne, a remake of 2001 Hollywood movie Tangled. Before movies, she had been crowned Femina Miss India Universe in 2004 at the age of 20 and was among the top ten finalists during the Miss Universe beauty pageant.
Tanushree has been credited with getting the #MeToo movement in India rolling after she came out in 2018 and accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the sets of the 2009 film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss. Patekar was cleared of the sexual harassment charges by the police in June 2019.
After making her debut in Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005, Tanushree went on to star in Telegu movie Veerabhadra, and in Bollywood movie Chocolate alongside actors Anil Kapoor, Sushma Reddy, Irrfan Khan, Sunil Shetty, Arshad Warsi, and Emraan Hashmi. She had alleged that during the shooting of Chocolate she was asked by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri to remove her clothes and dance with Irrfan, but she did not have to go through with it after Irrfan and Sunil stood up for her.
2006 TO 2010:
In 2006, Tanushree made a special appearance in a song from the movie Bhagam Bhag. The following year she starred in five movies, namely, Raqeeb, Dhol, Risk, Good Boy, Bad Boy, and Speed. Then in 2008, she starred in Saas Bahu Aur Sensex, and in 2010 in Ramaa: The Saviour (Hindi), Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (Tamil), Rokkk (Hindi), and Apartment (Hindi).
Tanushree Dutta was born on March 19, 1984 in Jamshedpur (now Jharkhand), Bihar to Tapan Dutta and Shikha Dutta, and she has one sister, Ishita Dutta, who is also an actress. She completed her schooling from D.B.M.S. English School in Jamshedpur. She is a citizen of the United States of America after obtaining a green card in 2018.
