Dr Thawar Chand Gehlot is an Indian politician who is the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the NDA Government. He is currently the leader of the Upper House of Indian Parliament. He is also a member of Parliamentary Board and Central Election Committee, BJP, since 2006.
Gehlot represents MP in Rajya Sabha. He was born on May 18, 1948, and holds a PhD from Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Socia University, Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. The minister is married to Anita Gehlot and the couple has four children. He has also represented Shajapur in the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 2009. Gehlot was made the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment (2nd term) on May 31, 2019.
Gehlot has written for a quarterly journal published by Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He has actively been involved in welfare projects since 1960. He has been a swayam sevak of RSS since 1962.
The minister has been a part of the Indian Parliamentary Delegation to United Nations in 1998 and 2007. He has also accompanied the President to Jordon, Israel & Philistine in October 2015. Recently, in June, he participated in Global Disability Summit-2019 held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
