The Uttar Pradesh Police have filed an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao gangrape case. The FIR has been filed under Sections 363, 366, 375 and 508 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act since the alleged rape survivor is a minor.

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday took suo-motu cognizance of the Unnao gangrape case and the custodial death of the alleged rape survivor's father. The court will hear the case on Thursday, April 12. The High Court has also appointed an amicus curiae in the case.
