Virender Sehwag was born on October 20, 1978, in Najafgarh, Delhi. He is a former opening batsman of the Indian Cricket Team, playing in the One-Day International (ODI) format since 1999 and the Test format since 2001. Virender Sehwag is a right-handed batsman, a right-arm off-break bowler and an occasional off-spinner. Virender Sehwag is married to Aarti Ahlawat since 2004 and has two kids, Aryavir Sehwag and Vedant Sehwag. He made his debut in cricket while playing for Delhi in 1997. He holds the record for highest individual score in an ODI scoring 219 in 2011. He has six double centuries to his name in various matches, three of which were scored against Pakistan. He has also served as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On field, Virender Sehwag was known as someone who plays like Indian cricket legend and his fellow team member Sachin Tendulkar. Virender Sehwag is a contender to be the next India Coach after former cricketer Anil Kumble stepped down following a standoff with Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli. The new India Coach will be decided on July 10, 2017. Virender Sehwag's competitors for the India Coach position are former Team India Director Ravi Shastri, as well as Tom Moody, Phil Simmons, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput.
