Volkswagen, the German auto major today reported a 31 per cent increase in sales in India at 4,039 units for June this year. The company had sold 3,079 units in the same month last year. The company also saw an increase of 19% in Jan-June 2015 as compared to same period last year.

German auto major, Volkswagen recently launched the 2015 Vento facelift in India. During the launch Michael Mayer, head of Volkswagen India mentioned that the company plans to launch five new cars in the country in the next couple of years. Mayer also confirmed that next year VW will launch the new 2016 Pessat, the iconic Beetle, the Tiguan SUV and also an all-new compact sedan. German auto major - Volkswagen today reveled some inside information regarding its upcoming mid-segment sedan 2015 Vento. The new facelift comes with some considerable design upgrades to both the exterior and the interior, whereas mechanically this car remains unchanged. Volkswagen claims that the new 2015 Volkswagen Vento will be offering an improved fuel efficiency figure of up to 7.5%.

Volkswagen, the German auto maker had launched the slightly tweaked Vento sedan with a new diesel engine in India last year. This model got a new diesel automatic variant, while the overall profile of the car remained the same. Interestingly, the company is aiming to give a major makeover to the Vento sedan, which is scheduled to go on sale by festive season, 2015. The sedan will get changes to both exterior and interior. The updated sedan has already been spotted in Russia, where it sold as Polo sedan. It is expected to be priced in the range of INR 7.5-11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). This 2015 Vento sedan will rival against the likes of the Honda City, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Hyundai Verna, the Nissan Sunny and the Skoda Rapid.

Volkswagen India today launched the all new 2015 Jetta facelift at the starting price of INR 13.87 Lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The car comes with some major design upgrades that give it a more up-market look than before but with at a much affordable price point compared to the previous models. The 2015 Jetta will be offered with the same 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine and a 2.0-litre TDi Diesel motor as before. The car comes in three different variant, namely Trendline, Comfortline and the top-end model Headline. All the three models will be priced in the range of INR 13.87 – 18.76 lakh. The diesel variant gets the additional option of DSG automatic transmission, which will nearly cost you a lakh more than the top variant at INR 19. 77 lakhs (All prices ex-showroom Mumbai). Volkswagen Group India today launched its first engine plant in the country which will assemble 1.5-litre diesel engines for two VW models as well as for the group arm Skoda's Rapid sedan. The Rs 240-crore powertrain plant at its Chakan facility is spread over 3,500 Square meters and can produce 98,000 engines per annum in three shifts, all Bharat Stage III compliant. The company will use the new power trains from the new facility for the models Polo, Vento and Rapid.

German auto major Volkswagen today announced the appointment of Kamal Basu as the head of marketing and PR of passenger cars division for its Indian operations. Basu was earlier with Skoda Auto India where he was overseeing product marketing, lead management, communication and media, and also worked closely with sales, after-sales and dealer network teams, the company said in a statement.

Volkswagen is recalling 442,000 Jettas and Beetles to fix a problem that can cause rear suspension failure if the cars aren't fixed properly after a crash. The recall covers 2011 through 2013 Jettas and 2012 through 2013 Beetles.
