Swedish commercial vehicles major Volvo today said it plans to use India for exporting its buses manufactured in the country to developed markets in Europe. "We plan to use India for exporting our buses manufactured in India to developed markets in Europe," Volvo Buses President Hakan Agnevall told reporters. The first bus made in the Indian facility will be unveiled later this year in Europe, he added.

Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo has embarked on an aggressive growth strategy. A part of this plan is to expand its sales network in the country which according to the company would increase to 22 touch points by the end of this year. Moreover by 2020, the company aims to sell 10,000 units and capture around 10 per cent of the Indian luxury car segment, which is expected to touch 1,00,000 lakh units by that time. Presently, the luxury car segment in the country stands at around 32,000 units per annum.

Volvo India is all set to launch the 2015 XC90 luxury SUV in India. Slated for a mid-2015 release, we expect the German carmaker to launch the XC90 in April. Unveiled last year in August 2014, the next-gen XC90 comes with some new exterior styling and mechanical upgrades for the India bound model. Volvo has not yet revealed its price but industry experts believe it will be priced in the range of INR 90 - 95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
