Israel on Thursday said it has killed Yahya Sinwar, the elusive leader of Hamas, who reportedly orchestrated last year's deadly October 7 assault which sparked the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group.

Yahya Sinwar, the key planner of the October 7 2023, attacks, had been hiding in Gaza for the past year. Despite multiple efforts by Israel to target him since the war began, he managed to evade capture or assassination.
