Roger Federer Renames His Historic Eighth Wimbledon Trophy in Tribute to Past Winner

Wimbledon 2017 will be held from 3 July to 16 July. The qualifiers began on Friday, June 30. Wimbledon is held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) in Wimbledon, London, England, UK. The Championships, popularly known as Wimbledon, is the most prestigious and the oldest tennis tournament in the world. World champion Rafael Nadal was out of the Wimbledon 2017 Championships early on, while champion Novak Djokovic retired hurt. Swiss player Roger Federer won the Wimbledon 2017 Final on Sunday, 16 July, beating Marin Cilic of Croatia. Federer has now taken over US champion Pete Sampras for the Open Era record of most titles at Wimbledon, with his eighth win at Wimbledon 2017 in the finals.
The Championships sticks to its age-old practices in terms of the uniform of players, the colour scheme of green and white on court and for the tournament, and the companies that advertise for it, and so on. The tennis tournament is held on the grass court, a format that some players are not comfortable with. But most tennis greats in history have won a numer of tournaments at Wimbledon and consider it special.
But Wimbledon has set aside tradition in the sense that it is quite a rage on social media, and has its official accounts on Facebook and Twitter that shares pre-tournament images of the ground, players and the famous strawberries! The tournament also sells its branded merchandise online and at the venue, including caps, T-shirts, player equipment and towels, keychains, mugs, etc.
