Ganpatpura, the small town in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district, is famous among pilgrims and devotees of the beloved elephant god Ganesh because of the special temple that it is home to. The Shree Ganesh Temple here, also called Ganpatpura Temple, lies just 40 km from the sprawling city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s largest, and so naturally attracts hundreds of pilgrims, especially during the festivals that are dearest to the god. The main deity of this small town temple stands tall at 6 feet, and the temple sees maximum footfall during Sankat Chaturthi every month, with several lakh visitors coming here for the Darshan. Managed by the Shree Ganpati Maharaj Trust, the temple also organizes free meals between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm for pilgrims every day, along with Falahar or fasting food on the day of Sankat Chaturthi. Tea is also provided to devotees every day from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. For those pilgrims who want to sta overnight or rest at the temple, there are 15 well-made and maintained rooms at the temple premises, free for the pilgrims. And divine offerings of the Laddoo, a sweet favored by Ganesh himself, is offered by the temple and quite famous among pilgrims.
