Bagbazar Puja Pandal

This is one of the oldest Durga Puja Pandals in the city, having been around for more than a century. Unlike most other Pandals, the celebrations here are more traditional and a lot of emphasis is laid on age-old rituals. Kumartuli Park Pandal

This is one of the wildly popular pandals, formed in the year 1995 with so much creativity portrayed on the idol. The Kumartuli Park Pandal is located in an area where the majority of the Durga Idols are handcrafted. Furthermore, the idols crafted here are so professional that the experts export these to Canada, US, UK and other East Asian countries to celebrate the colourful Durga Puja.

Santosh Mitra Square Pandal

Before it got its current name, Santosh Mitra Square Pandal was called the Sealdah Sarbojanin Durgotsav Pandal. It was formed in 1936 and renamed in 1996. But it would only be in the following year that the pandal would shoot to fame after the organizers got innovative with its theme. Since then it has only built on that reputation and has become an important stopover on all Pandal Walks

Suruchi Sangha Puja Pandal

The decorations at the Suruchi Sangha Puja Pandal exhibit the best of different Indian states each year. Needless to say, the Durga idol is also modeled along the lines of the theme. So you can expect the Durga idol to look different each year! The Suruchi Sangha Puja Pandal has been in business for more than half a century. In 2003 it won the award for the best decorated pandal, a feat it achieved again in 2009.

Mohammad Ali Park Pandal

Having been in business since 1969, the Mohammad Ali Park Pandal is yet another major attraction during the Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata. Last year the pandal’s enclosure featured a replica of an African Safari complete with exotic birds.
