Kolad is in Maharashtra and is known for its water sports activities especially white water rafting. It boasts of being the only destination in the country that is open all year round for this sport. Not just this sport, you can go for kayaking and archery. Most people who come here camp overnight to enjoy the activities to the fullest. Kolad is driving distance from Mumbai and makes for a fun weekend getaway. Kolad has a few sightseeing attractions too but it is synonymous with water sports and attracts enough enthusiasts throughout the year. Another town that is famous for white water rafting is Rishikesh which is also known for other things like its ashrams, yoga institutes and temples. Get your adrenalin rush as you wade through the cold waters of the Ganga running through Rishikesh. While white water rafting is one of the key adventure sports in Rishikesh, others like rock climbing, hiking, flying fox, cliff jumping, etc are also available here. So, if you prefer aerial or land sports, you can try them too when in Rishikesh. Stay in an ashram which is an experience in itself and attend the Ganga aarti on the banks in the evening. You will mostly find vegetarian food here thanks to the temples and influence of yoga here.

Here, the adventure activities include paragliding that gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. As you drive down, you can spot several paragliding parachutes in the air that make for a lovely sight. You can also trek up to Tikona Fort and go boating at Pavana. Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep is one place that most people visit either to try these adventure activities or to relax on the beach. Fishing, angling, scuba diving, surfing, jet skiing, parasailing and more, you will find all of these activities here. Reaching here is a little tricky and you need permits to enter the union territory. Only a few islands are open for tourists and there are a few beach resorts in the area. Since it is a little cut off from the rest of the country, you will find fewer tourists in Lakshadweep.

Gulmarg, one of India’s premier ski destinations is in Jammu and Kashmir and attracts professional as well as amateur skiers who love or want to try this sport. It also conducts ski courses that range from three to four to 12 days too and you get a certificate once you complete it. Snorkelling and surfing are other activities offered at these islands. The white sand beaches and blue waters here are quite different from what you see in other parts of the country. You can stay in a resort right on the beach or opt for a hotel in Port Blair and then take a ferry ride to reach your destination.
