It has been two years since the formation of Telangana. Most people outside of the state were gently reminded of this with full-page advertisements about the state’s formation in major newspapers. But hidden behind all the chest-thumping and the celebrations was a heartwarming story of the managing director of the state’s tourism department. We chanced upon this story on Facebook thanks to Suvam Pal, a journalist who had travelled to the state and was disappointed with the state tourism department’s guest house. On cutting short his trip, Suvam dashed off an email complaining about his woes. To his utter surprise, Suvam received a response from Dr Christina Z Chongthu, the state tourism department’s managing director. What happened next?
