Nestled in the coastal Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, Sawantwadi is locally known as Sunderwadi; literally translated as a beautiful locality. Though now, Sawantwadi is known for its amazing beaches and excellent water sports facilities, it is also a one of the oldest civilisations in the state. Main attraction of course is the Lake Moti which is right in middle of this scenic town. This beach town in flanked by the Arabian sea on one side and hills on other side. This town is also famous for the Ganjifa Art or lacer work. Wooden articles made thus are sold nationwide.
Summer in Sawantwadi starts from March and lasts till May. The maximum temperature here is 35C.Many travellers visit Sawantwadi in this season because this is the holiday season.
This area receives heavy rainfall and is not generally visited by many tourists. But you can make an exception and still visit this place during heavy rains. You will be treated to scenic view and great deals on accommodation and sight-seeing.
This season from November to February is the best season to visit this place. Weather is calm and pleasant.
