With people over-crowding the popular beaches at Juhu and Girgaum at any point of the day, it comes across as a surprise to find this secluded beach within the city. Located in the northern suburbs of Mumbai near Borivali  is the famous Gorai beach in the beautiful coastal village on Manori island. Surrounded by magnificent churches, temples and beautiful beach huts, it gives out a Portuguese vibe which will instantly remind you of some of the low-key beaches in Goa. The beach is known for its cleanliness and greenery. Surrounded by hillocks, it is great for a short hike once up there you’re in for a superb panoramic view from the top. However, it is a class apart during sunset – something that should not be missed while on your visit here. The palm trees swaying gently to the breeze, with the sun reflecting in its clean waters is a sight to behold. You can enjoy the little joys of life like sipping coconut water or chomp on some gola. You could stay a night or two at the cottage style bungalows lined along the beach front done up by the local government. They provide live barbecues and local delicacies too are available in the local restaurants near the beach.

If you would like to explore the nearby areas, then the most famous attraction here is the Global Vipassana Pagoda which holds the relics of Gautam Buddha and holds one of the most beautiful hollow stone idols of Buddha in the world. You can also visit the Samudreshwar Temple of Lord Shiva or even the old Portuguese Church here.
