The city’s Bengali associations and communities host large Durga Puja festivities every year, with tasty Bengali dishes on offer and some interesting and entertaining cultural events. SORRBA Durgotsab 2017

The Sarjapur Outer Ring Road Bengali Association (SORRBA) has been around since 2008, and its Durga Puja Pandals are usually pretty exciting. Last year it had live performances by Krosswindz and Bhoomi. This year, you can expect four nights of dance drama and songs, including Bengali folk song performances by the Folk Foundation. Socio Cultural Association Durga Pooja 2017

Celebrating 49 years, the Socio Cultural Association’s Durga Puja Pandal this year is a special one. There will be a Dandiya night on September 25, with dance performances by Sathi Chakraborty and Group, Rabindrasangeeth by Sounak Chattopadhyay, and song performances by Rina Das and Dibakar Das Baul in the later days. Football contests, drawing contests, frog races and other such events will also be in the agenda.

Shri Shri Durga Puja 2017

Organized by the Bengalee Association in Ulsoor, this Durga Puja Pandal is said to see as many as 25,000 visitors during the festival. This year, the festivities are shifting from the RBANMS ground to the Manpho Convention Centre, with a large food court and exhibition area and bhoj services on the days of Saptami, Ashtami and Nabami. This is going to be the 68th year of Durga Puja, which the association says is the oldest and largest in the city.

Sree Sree Durga Pooja and Dasera 2017

The Sarathi Koramangala Sree Sree Durga Pooja and Dasera 2017 event will see some interesting performances. Singers Tirtha Bhattacharjee, Anwesha Dutta and Dipan Mehta will be performing this year, along with Kushal Paul and Isis Paul. Amader Pujo 2017

The Kanakapura Road Bengali Association’s Amader Pujo 2017 is said to be the most happening celebration in South Bangalore. Spread across around 60,000 square feet of space, this Durga Puja includes community activities and cultural programs each evening, along with a community feast. Don’t miss the special Dhakiya Event in the evening of Mahanavami, where a mix of Bengali Dhak and Gujarati Dandiya is performed.

The sixth year of this Durga Puja by Utsav Bangalore will feature special programs for children and musical performances. Singer Shamik Pal will be performing this year, along with an Utsav Dandiya Raas charity evening on September 25.

Jayamahal Durgotsav 2017

The Jayamahal Sarbajanin Durga Charitable Samiti says that it organizes the only theme-based Durga Puja celebration in the city. In its 63rd year now, the popular Pandal is a replica of Kolkata’s legendary Dakshineshwar Kali Temple. There will be Anandamela where homemade food and handicrafts will be on offer, a dance recital by Nandi Bharatha Natya Kalasala, an Odiya-Kathak fusion dance by Arpita Vandana and group, and more.
