India’s culture, historical, natural and gastronomical marvels have been stunning millions of travelers and tourists every year. And with a new event in the Netherlands, these mesmerizing sights will be seen in a whole new light, through the lenses of virtual reality. The Vakantiebeurs (Holiday Fair) 2018 is taking place right now in the country, its largest tourism event. And it is here that India’s greatest tourist attractions are being showcased via VR. The India Tourism department and Embassy of India have worked together to provide these VR experiences at the ‘Kerala Tourism’ and ‘Incredible India’ stalls, decorated in traditional lights with the beat of bhangra playing in the background. VR offers three-dimensional, immersive video experiences, and you can take a 360-degree look at various destinations in India like the Qutub Minar, Alappuzha backwaters, Athirapalli waterfalls, Nalanda, Khajuraho, Amer Palace and more. Hosted in the city of Utrecht in central Netherlands, the Kerala Tourism and India Tourism stalls and their VR displays were inaugurated by city mayor Jan van Zanen and Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, Venu Rajamony. Visitors are also offered Indian refreshments together with VR tours of Indian tourist destinations. The two stalls will offer VR tours of various places of interest throughout the six-day event. volunteers from the local Indian community are helping out, along with staff members from the Indian Tourism department and Indian Embassy. The Vakantiebeurs (Holiday Fair) is an annual event hosted by Utrecht, with more than 1,000 companies participating this year and thousands in attendance every year. At the two Indian stalls, around 10 travel companies are also co-exhibiting their Indian travel packages.
