The nearest airport to Kumarakom is the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) approximately 70 km away. It is well-connected to most of the metros in India and to the Middle East and Malaysia. Jet Airways and Indian Airlines operate daily flights to Kochi. From the airport, one can avail the pre-paid taxi service Cochin Airport Taxi Society (CATS) to reach Kumarakom. Both A/C and Non A/C cabs are available.
The nearest railhead from Kumarakom is Kottayam, located about 15 km away. It is connected by rail to Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
From Bengaluru, one can drive down to Kochi on the NH47 (Salem-Kanyakumari) till Cherthala. After that, one can use the state highway 40 to Kottayam and then the Kottayam-Kumarakom route. Regular buses by KSRTC ply between Kumarakom and Kottayam, which in turn is connected to Ernakulam, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram.
