We normally refrain from talking cricket here since that’s another beat altogether, but this one deserves a quick mention. The Indian cricket team, currently playing against West Indies in a tour of the country, spent a day before the second ODI today enjoying the beaches of Antigua. The team took off for jet-skiing along the pristine waters of Antigua and playing some volley. While some were indulging in water sports and other activities, others preferred to spend their time relaxing by the beach. The BCCI was helpful enough to post a two-minute video of the team’s brief vacation on Twitter. Shikhar Dhawan can be seen in the video with his family, while Hardik Pandya takes the responsibility to introduce the team to the viewers. After a little bit of volleyball, the players turned to the water for some fun activities and swam in the ocean waters before calling it a day. And we can understand why the team pulled themselves off their training for a day to spend time in the beaches. Antigua’s beaches can seduce anyone. The island’s coastline is home to hundreds of little beach stretches with crystal-blue water gently lapping the sands. With a hint of pink, the sands of Antigua and Barbuda entices one and all. Antigua is, in many ways, exactly what you would imagine a Caribbean island to be: warm and clear waters, soft white and pink sands, colorful villages, and incredible hotels and hospitality. While Antigua has had a long history of being a refuge and even winter home for sailors, today it is famed for its wide range of beaches. Barbuda is smaller and less developed, but has just as many guest houses and hotels and has beaches that some consider to be even better than those of Antigua.
With the Indian cricket team clearly in a Caribbean paradise, it makes sense that they would take to the beaches, if only for a short day. Here’s hoping that the team is fully rejuvenated and ready to continue their winning streak in West Indies today as well! ALSO READ: 25 countries Indians can visit without a visa
