Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would know that Kate Middleton and Prince William are in India and taking Mumbai by storm. (ALSO READ Will and Kate’s complete itinerary in India and Bhutan). The royal couple that landed in financial powerhouse of the country spent their morning paying tribute to the victims of the 26/11 terror attacks before making their way to the nearby Oval Maidan where they enjoyed a game of cricket alongside Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar. (Vengsarkar runs a cricket academy at the north end of Oval Maidan where several budding cricketers, including Paul Valthaty of Kings XI Punjab, have received their first lessons.) Later today, Kate and William will rub shoulders with the who’s who of Bollywood in an exclusive dinner at the Crystal Room of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel where they will get a taste of Indian cuisine. Our sources inform us that the royal couple will be served Indian thali. The Crystal Room (file picture below), where the banquet will be held has been decked up in colors of the Indian flag. The menu is an elaborate spread.

The vegetarian main course includes:

Kumbh Gucchi Malai Mutter, a peas and mushroom preparation cooked in rich cashew gravy

Subz Shikampuri Kebab, a Hyderabadi specialty made out of vegetables and hung yoghurt

Motia Palak, a garlic-tempered spinach and corn preparation

Paneer Sirka Pyaaz, a combination of cottage cheese and pickled beet onions

The non vegetarian main course includes:

Sarson Mahi tikka, a dish made of fish chunks flavored with mustard charbroiled in tandoor

Dum Ka Gosht, a boneless lamp preparation braised with spices and a saffron-enhanced gravy

Murg Kalimirch, a chicken dish cooked in a charcoal oven and served in a cashew gravy

Accompaniments include:

Aloo Gobhi Ki Tehri, a pilaf preparation from Uttar Pradesh made with basmati rice, potato and cauliflower

Lal Moth Dal, which is a slow cooked dal made from red lentils.

Also on the menu are an assortment of Indian breads, raita and papads.

Desserts include:

Baked Gulab Jamun, Kesari Rasmalai and Paan Kulfi
