May 1 is Maharashtra Day. Carved out of the erstwhile Bombay Presidency in 1960, Maharashtra celebrates its 56th formation day on May 1. Maharashtra is indeed special to us but only in part because we live here and work here. The state of Maharashtra has welcome immigrants from all over the country not just since its formation but long before that. It is a state that boasts of being inclusive and quite rightly so for monuments of all faiths stand side by side with much pride. And so as the state turns a year older, it’s only fair that we let the photographs do the talking for us.
