While monsoons in India are not considered as peak tourist season, you will be amazed at how marvelous some of the destinations become after the first few showers. Taking note of this, more and more tourists have been taking vacations in the June-September period. With that in mind, popular accommodation portal Hotels.com analyzed data on hotel searches made by its rapidly growing Indian consumer base. Conducted for stays during the period of June to September 2017, the study revealed some interesting insights on popular tourist destinations in India during monsoon. Using the data, the portal has released its ‘Monsoon Travel Hotlist’ for 2017. Here are the most searched places in India for monsoon 2017 as per the list. Mumbai saw a 49 per cent increase in searches this year. While Mumbai rains are quite infamous, the weather here becomes extremely pleasant during monsoon making it a great time for pleasant sight-seeing trips and long heritage walks.

Perhaps one of the most famous beaches of Goa, Calangute’s popularity has seen no decline over the years. Located at the heart of north Goa, Calangute attracts visitors all year round with its wide array of hotels, restaurants, resorts and activities. It saw a 10 per cent rise in searches this year.

With a 50 per cent rise in searches, New Delhi remains one of India’s most revered holiday spots with its vibrant culture, historical monuments and colorful people.

The most surprising revelation of hotel.com’s data is that Arpora saw a 91 per cent growth in searches as compared to last year. Another hotspot in north Goa, Arpora is famous for its night market and hotels and resorts with lovely views.

Bengaluru

Bangalore saw a 54 per cent increase in searches and continues to be one of the favorite urban destinations for tourists, both Indian and foreign.

Gurugram

Another surprising name on the list is Gurugram, with an 86 per cent increase in searches. Gurugram is home to some of the finest hotels in north India and is a good place to witness north Indian culture and food.

And yet another north Goan destination to make it to the list is Baga with a 29 per cent increase in searches. Baga beach is dotted with marvelous restaurants like Britto’s and the market is a great place to pick up souvenirs.

And finally, there is the Pink City with a 42 per cent increase in searches. Jaipur is famous for its historical forts and monuments as well as its culture which includes its cuisine and clothing.
