Pench National Park in Chhindwara and Seoni districts of Madhya Pradesh derives its name from the Pench River, flowing through the National Park. The beauty of Pench National Park is so enchanting that it sparked one of the best literary creations of Rudyard Kipling – The Jungle Book. From rocky trails, rolling hills, clear rivers, and gushing streams, the park attracts a large number of travellers every year, all because it’s a nature lover’s paradise. The beautiful, lush woods foster over 300 varied species of flora and fauna, the highlight being the iconic Royal Bengal Tiger that are easily spotted, especially during summers. The park is home to several species of animals among which wild guars, leopard, monkeys and deer are easily spotted. There are some other predators too such as the Indian Wild Dog, hyena, wolf, jackal and jungle cat. Among prey species observed in the park are sambhar, chital, muntjac, langur, wild boar, and rhesus macaques. There are more than 170 species of both resident and migratory ones such as peafowl, crow pheasant, junglefowl, red-vented bulbul, crimson-breasted barbet, magpie robin, lesser whistling teal, racket-tailed drongo, egret, pintail, shoveler and herons to name a few. The park is blessed with abundant flora as well courtesy rich and verdant forests, spread throughout the park. Southern dry broadleaf teak forests blend in beautifully with tropical mixed deciduous forests here. The flora also includes different kinds of shrubs, climbers,  and some uncommon varieties of herbs with medicinal properties such as Saja, Bija and Lendia.
