Rajasthan has a character that most other Indian destinations can be envious of. The marvelous state has a fine blend of ethnic splendor and raw natural beauty. However, there is a quaint town in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan which is one of the oldest places in the country and has emerged as a delightful choice for foreign backpackers in the past few decades. It is none other than the wonderful Pushkar! Located around the sacred Pushkar lake, the small town of Pushkar is particularly famous for its rare, 14th century Brahma temple. It is also the venue for the world-famous Pushkar Camel Fair which is held every year in late-October to early-November. It is a huge camel, horse and cattle fair that involves livestock trading and several cultural events.
