Costa Cruises, a European company has announced that it will begin cruises between the two countries from this December onwards. The decision came after the Shipping Ministry announced its plans to develop Mumbai Port Trust as a port of call for cruise liners. Costa neoClassica will take 1700 passengers on a week-long cruise from Mumbai to Maldives with stops at New Mangalore and Kochi on the onward journey, and halts at Colombo and Goa on the way back from Maldives. The fully-equipped cruise liner will have 650 cabins including ones with sea view and private balcony, a wellness center and other luxuries like a casino, theater, ballroom, bar and disco.
