The 2015 release had Deepika and Ranbir in the lead role who play two strangers who meet in Corsica, have some amazing adventures and fall in love in the process. Tamasha put Corsica on the map for several Indians who were oblivious to its name and beauty and certainly gave us itchy feet. Though the movie was also shot in Delhi and Himachal, it was the stunning backdrop of this island that stayed with us for the longest time. Finding Fanny

The pretty actress looked the part when she played a Goan girl in Finding Fanny that showed us a different side of Goa. The beach state that is popular for its parties was not what we saw in the film. Rather, Finding Fanny showed us the everyday life of the locals in the state in the sleepy towns where life is slow and mundane. The beautiful, quiet roads and the scenic beauty of old Goa stole our hearts. ALSO SEE Bollywood movies that will transport you to Goa

Desi Boyz

The film may have tanked but we got a good enough peek of life in London thanks to Desi Boyz. Deepika played a regular girl living in London who falls in love with John Abraham who becomes a male escort to earn money. The film showed us the posh nightclubs of London as well as quaint beauty of Oxford, the pub culture and the recession-hit life.

Deepika won accolades for her performance in Piku and while we loved her Bong accent and chemistry with Irfan Khan in the film, the element that drew us to it was also the way it showcased Kolkata. It also took us on a family road trip and showcased the glitches that come with it in a humorous manner.

Love Aaj Kal

From London to Delhi to San Francisco, we get to see three different cities in the film. Deepika and Saif play lovers in London who decide to have a mutual break-up to make their careers. It is only later that they realize they still love each other when Deepika is back in India and Saif is in SF. The film also took us back in time to a different India with Rishi Kapoor’s track. An out-and-out travel-cum-romance film, YJHD showcased the beauty of Himachal and Srinagar as Deepika, Ranbir and others go on a trekking trip. It also took us to France and showed the beauty of Udaipur with a lavish destination wedding. The group’s adventures, hopes and dreams was something the youth could relate to and made it a huge success, not to mention the beautiful backdrop.

Break Ke Baad

Starring Deepika and Imran Khan, Break Ke Baad was a film about long-distance relationship. Deepika played a student doing an acting course in Australia and most of the film was shot in the continent-country. From the amazing white sand beaches to university life and the beautiful landscape of Australia, we got a peek into the country in this film. Deepika played a dancer from the slums in this film who then goes on to become sophisticated as she participates in a dance show with others in the film. Happy New Year was extensively shot in Dubai and showcased all the popular sightseeing attractions like Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, etc.

Another film that is set mostly in London, Cocktail was Deepika’s one of the best performances as she portrayed the role of a rich, spoilt brat living in London. The story revolves around three friends and shows us the beauty of the city as the three party around. It also takes us to Cape Town for a brief vacation they all take together. Cocktail is not essentially a travel film but clearly has the setting for one. ALSO SEE 10 Hollywood films that were shot in India

Bachna Ae Haseeno

The coming-of-age film was a visual delight to watch and surely sparked our wanderlust. It was primarily Ranbir Kapoor’s film but Deepika surely left an impact playing the modern, independent girl who studies in Sydney and drives a taxi at night to support herself. The film showcased the stunning Switzerland, took us to Italy’s beautiful cities like Venice and Capri and also to Sydney.
