Going to the Festival of The Arts hosted by India International Centre in Delhi will be like going on a vacation to the seven sisters in the northeast. You can expect spectacular music performances, exhibition on the literature of the North East, delicious food and much more at this five-day event from October 27 to October 31.
If you’ve been wanting to visit the north-east for a while now, this event could satiate your craving even if just for a bit, by bringing you the best of cuisine, culture, film, arts from the seven states. Stepping inside the world Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Nagaland, you’ll find something unique in every corner at the festival. For the musically inclined, there will be many special performances by leading bands and up-and-coming artists: such as an R&B performance by Ronnie and the Band from Nagaland and the Laihui Ensemble of Manipur.
There is also going to be a gallery of photographs based on the Monpa tribe of Arunachal Pradesh; an exhibition on the archeological and craft history of Tripura as well as an interesting exhibit on the history of literature published in the North East. In addition, there will also be a kaleidoscope of life-sized bamboo houses, handicrafts, gateways and structures to make you truly believe that you have arrived in the Northeast.
The IIC is scenic and wonderful, with beautiful gardens, canopies formed by trees, fountains and a tea lounge; and dropping by for an evening of classical music and engaging in a free-flowing conversation while sipping tea or just standing and gazing out at the arching verandah is something you will cherish as your core memories.
