The beautiful Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad is one of the most visited spots in the city, and for good reason. Along with offering travellers a scenic spot for some unwinding, and photography, the lake is a great place to enjoy some quality time at a night cruise.

It’s not just a regular cruise; it’s a luxury cruise that goes around the spectacular monolithic Buddha statue. The statue is among the world’s tallest; radiating everything Gautama Buddha stands for – compassion, virtue, and wisdom. Carved from a massive granite rock found near Bhongir in Telangana, this 72-feet statue was consecrated in the year 2006 by His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama.

There’s much you can do at Hussain Sagar Lake; including a variety of water sports activities like sailing, yachting, and boating. The regatta competition of boats and yachts, held annually also draws adventurous travellers from all across the world. Additionally, there are speed boats, motor boats, and forty-eight seated steamers for travellers wanting a perfect sunset leisure cruise. The steamers are available for private parties and starlit dinners as well, in case you want to spend alone time with family.

Being one of the largest manmade lake that connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, the lake was constructed on one a tributary of the Musi River in 1562. It’s a loved spot for not just leisure seekers but for also fitness freaks and elderly couples  who like to sit by the lake at dawn and dusk. It’s quite an experience though, especially the cruise on the glittering waters of the lake on a pleasant evening with a cold breeze blowing in your face.
