Snuggled in the Shivaliks, Mcleodganj is known for its vibrant monasteries, quaint cafes, and thrilling adventure activities against stunning backdrop. You can visit this beautiful hill-station all year round. However, the summer months between March to June, are the most pleasant for trekking and sightseeing tours. Mcleodganj receives heavy rainfall from mid-July to August, so avoid visiting during those months.

You can literally cover the sightseeing in Mcleodganj in half a day. The important attractions include Namgyal Monastery, Tsuglagkhang (the residence of Dalai Lama), Bhagsu Falls, Bhagsunath Temple, and Tibetan Museum.

Once you’re done with those, kick back and relax by taking a boat ride in the Dal Lake, set amidst lush green Deodar forests. Shopping at the local markets here has its own charm; while the street shops of Kotwali Bazaar are popular for Tibetan carpets, rugs and exotic sculptures, Jogiwara Road holds a reputation for souvenir shopping.

There’s much to do for the adventure junkies as well as they can go trekking, camping, and hiking on the trails of the surrounding areas – the Triund trek via Indrahar Pass being the most famous. Doing something as simple as stargazing is also quite an experience here; courtesy the clear sky over the snow-capped peaks.

For peace and complete relaxation, you could explore the many yoga learning centres that offer meditation and yoga sessions for travellers. The most popular ones are Om Yoga Centre, Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre, Universal Yoga Centre, and Tushita Meditation Centre. Mcleodganj is also known for Ayurvedic healing therapies and spa treatments for complete rejuvenation of the body and mind. Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Centre, located near Bhagsu Nag, has professional experts and doctors offering the best spa treatments.
