The only bad thing about a vacation is that it gets over and after a few days of fun and relaxation, we are back to the grind that can be a mammoth task. Post holiday blues is a real thing that we all have probably experienced at least once or in many cases, after each break. However, doing a few simple things can make it easier to cope with this sudden depression-like feeling. Plan for an easy transition: If you are on vacation for a week and there is no one at home, when you get back you have to suddenly take care of everything from getting grocery to cooking, etc. The trick is to feel comfortable at the earliest so that you feel at home again. Unpack as you get home and make arrangements to get grocery and takeout. This way, you will get time to relax even after coming back. Come back on a Thursday: Getting back to work on a Monday after a long vacation is one of the worst things for holiday blues. You will invariably wait for the weekend. Instead, get back home on a Thursday so that you only have one or two days of work before the weekend. Use these days to catch up slowly on what you have missed and be back in form to your optimal self by Monday. Go outside: One of the reasons we feel rejuvenated on a vacation is because we are outside most of the times in the midst of nature. Once you come back, don’t just sit indoors. Open the windows, get some fresh air or best, go out for a walk once a day. This will make you feel better instantly.

Plan for something to do after you are back: If you have nothing exciting to look forward to once you are back, you are likely to feel more dull. A good idea is to have something to do that you like once you are back. It could be as simple as a reservation at your favorite restaurant, meeting friends, catching a movie, etc. ALSO SEE Malaika Arora’s travel tips

Catch up with your loved ones: One of the ways to get over your holiday blues is to express how much fun you had. While posting things on social media is one thing, telling it in person is much better. Meet your loved ones not just to tell them about your trip but also to catch up with them.

Eat, sleep, exercise: Basics like eating well, sleeping enough and getting some exercise are really important to help you feel better. Chances are you may have indulged yourself in your favorite dishes and not really worked out on your break. So come back and motivate yourself to shed the holiday weight.

Look at your photos: One way to remember all the good times you had on vacation is to look at your photos and recall what you did there. And if you like one more, get it framed maybe. Get back souvenirs that you can put up in your home to cherish your memories.

Plan your next vacation: Another way to beat those post holiday blues is to start planning a new one even if it is distant in the future. This will keep you in a positive frame of mind as you will be invested in finding a similar experience that will keep you happy. It could be a quick getaway too from your city as any break is a good break. ALSO SEE How to plan a trip with friends
