The North-Eastern states of India are lesser explored as compared to the rest of the country, despite their scenic beauty. The snowscapes of Himachal Pradesh are more flocked by tourists than the ones in Sikkim. Hill Stations like Ooty, Manali, Dehradun are way more popular than Shillong in Meghalaya. Tourism in North-East India hasn’t flourished as much as the other parts of the country, given to its connectivity issues. However, the ministry of tourism is striving hard to promote tourism in North-East India. Read on to know how! In 2014, the ministry of tourism sanctioned 29 projects for North-East India! Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that these included nine projects in Nagaland, eight in Sikkim, five in Manipur, four in Arunachal Pradesh and three in Mizoram. Well, that’s a great initiative by the government, isn’t it? After all, the North-Eastern states are stunningly beautiful and totally worth visiting. As they are less frequented by tourists, their beauty is even more well-preserved. We hope that the money sanctioned for the tourism projects is utilized for the development of these states and to promote tourism. We wish that in 2015, tourism in North-East India thrives, especially as the tourism ministry is putting in so much effort.
