After getting a taste of Mumbai and Delhi where the royal couple played cricket, met children from the slums, rubbed shoulders with Bollywood celebs, had lunch with the PM and laid wreaths at memorials, Prince William and Kate Middleton reached Assam. And if these photos are anything to go by, they got the best welcome so far and seemed to have an amazing time mingling with the people of Assam. They landed at Tezpur Airport where they were received by Assam CM Tarun Gogoi and welcomed to the state with a traditional Assamese welcome. After trying some authentic Assamese cuisine with dishes like mutton in bamboo and papaya dish and the hottest chilli, the couple spent an amazing time with the villagers. The Diphlu River Lodge adjacent to the Kaziranga National Park where they are camping came alive with the festivities of the Rangoli Bihu festival.

The royal couple not only saw the villagers dance but also joined in the celebrations, soaking in their culture and interacting with the children after their dance performances. Prince William even tried playing a musical instrument and spoke with the kids. Posing for pictures, getting a taste of the vibrant culture of Assam and having a blast, Assam truly played the perfect host to them.

Will and Kate left for Kaziranga National Park this morning to spot the one-horned rhino, elephants and other wildlife on their jeep safari. With another day to go in this state, we are sure the royal couple will have a splendid time and return with a bag full of wonderful memories of their Assam sojourn.
