It’s a wonderful world. And there are all kinds of travellers in this world. Some abled, and some differently abled. Cory Lee, a young man, on a wheelchair, all of 28 has been documenting his travel for some time now, and it is quite something. It inspires you. It makes you aware of all that you’re blessed with. It makes you want to push the envelope and live that much better; that much happier. And it makes you travel places with Lee. For all those who’ve ever wondered for themselves or those around them: how does a person on a wheelchair fly, which hotels are wheel-chair friendly, which are the most wheelchair-friendly places around the world – fret not, Lee has answers to almost all your questions up on his blog.

And they’re not just research based answers; they’re his own experiences put out there for everybody to use and learn from. Curb Free with Cory Lee, Lee’s travel blog shows you not just how to travel, where to travel, but most importantly, why travel as a person with a disability.

Lee has his whole history out there, he doesn’t shy away from explaining what got him involved so passionately in travel. At the age of two, he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (type 2), but that never distinguished his desire to explore the world.

When he was four years old, he got his first powered wheelchair and took his first trip to Walt Disney World. Then at 15 he went to the Bahamas, which was his first ever international trip. That experience kind of shaped his future; he knew instantly that he has to explore this big, beautiful world, even if in a wheelchair.

Since then, he has visited 27 countries and 6 continents in a wheelchair. From travelling to countries like Germany, England, and Australia while he was still in college, to having crazy travel experiences such as being attacked by a hippo in South Africa or getting trapped in a burning bus – he’s pretty much done it all. Helping him around on his voyages, is of course his mom!

It’s almost been 5 years since he launched Curb Free with Cory Lee sharing all that he’s learned as a disabled traveller on a wheelchair so that you can use up the information and feel inspired.

He won the prestigious  Lowell Thomas Award for Best Travel Blog last year, has gotten featured in many publications over the years,  and also frequently speaks about accessible travel at conferences around the world. This guy is quite a marvel himself, we gotta admit!
