Located at 2444 meters above sea level, Chail Cricket Ground is the world’s highest cricket ground. The ground was built in 1893 by Maharaja of Patiala Bhupinder Singh, who made Chail his summer capital. Bhupinder Singh was a cricket enthusiast and used the ground to play friendly matches. Following the formation of the Indian Union, the buildings and the ground was donated by the king to the Government of India and Chail Military School. The ground is presently used by Chail Military School as the school playground.

The cricket ground sits on top of a hill and is surrounded by thick forest. It is also used to play polo or football. There is also a well-maintained basketball court on the ground. There is a historic tree in one of the corners of the ground on which a small tree house has been constructed by the Military School. To play a match here, you require permission from the Military School.
