Mata Chintpurni Devi Temple is the famous attraction in the town. Legend has it that the temple came into being after the goddess revealed herself to Pandit Mai Dass, who was an ardent devotee. Mai Dass built the temple around the Devi’s pindi. According to mythology, the goddess cut off her head to assuage the blood thirst of her companions. Hence, the name Chinnimastika Devi or the Goddess without a head.
The temple is single-storied made of rocks with a square base and a dome roof. The main entrance to the temple faces north. An old banyan tree stands in front of the entrance. On the other side of the entrance gate are placed the idols of Lord Ganesh and Hanuman.
