Place Details:
A research center of Himalayan geology, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology was established in June 1968 in the Delhi university, and later moved to Dehradun in 1976. It houses a massive library boasting of a collection of over 20,000 books apart from research journals. A museum within the institute holds video films, charts, maps and models to educate people about Himalayan and general geology. Since 2009, the institute also houses the Centre for Himalayan Glaciology, which focuses on the study of Himalayan glaciers and effect of climate change on them.
