Jama Masjid also known as Masjid-i Jah?n-Num? is the principle mosque of Old Delhi. Jama Masjid was built between 1650-1656. It was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The mosque has a vast paved courtyard, which can hold up to 25,000 people. It is about 261 feet long and 90 feet wide and its roof is covered with three domes. The floor is covered with black and white marble which looks like the Muslim prayer mats.
