Gaggal airport is about 15 km away from Dharamsala and receives daily flights from Delhi. However if you are flying from any other part of the country, you’ll have to fly to Chandigarh and then board a connecting flight to Dharamshala. The best way to reach the venue is by hiring a cab from the airport.
Chakki Bank and Pathankot are the nearest railway stations to Daramshala. Most trains are connected to these railway stations from New Delhi. The fastest train is the Jammu Rajdhani. It’ll take seven hours from Delhi to Chakki Bank. Some other trains are the Uttar S Kranti, Aii Jat Express and the Jam Jat Express that takes seven to eight hours. Tatkal bookings can be done 24 hours prior to the journey.
Of all the metro cities in India, Delhi is the most well connected with Dharamsala. A road journey from Delhi to Dharamsala (NH 1 is the best route) will take 10 to 12 hours.
