It is the New Year festival of the Monpas. Celebrations take place across five days with religious prayers, hoisting of religious flags on top of homes, reading of Buddhist scriptures, etc. It is generally celebrated in February. Before the festival, Monpas clean their homes and discard the old to usher in the New Year. The dirt and grit inside the house is believed to bring ill-health.
