Being the capital of Rajasthan, there are a lot of things to do in Jaipur. The city hosts several festivals throughout the year (except the summers when it gets unbearably hot). January witnesses a lot of action. Jaipur Literature Festival that hosts some of the finest writers from around the world is the biggest literary event in the country. Jaipur Vintage Car Rally is yet another major event in the city's calendar in January as is the International Kite Flying Competition. Makar Sankranti celebrations (again in January) are also big in Jaipur. These festivities are followed by the Elephant Festival (usually in February or March), Gangaur festival (March-April) and the Teej Festival (July-August). Rajasthan Fashion Week (around October) and Jaipur Jewellery Show are two of the biggest B2B events that also include runway shows and garner much curiosity due to high Bollywood celebrity presence.
